The LA Clippers challenge students in elementary and middle schools to take time out to read. Each participating student is asked to track the number of minutes they spend reading during the 6-week program.
READ TO ACHIEVE WINNING SCHOOLS
The elementary and middle schools that track the most minutes read during the 6-week challenge will receive a virtual Reading Timeout visit from a member of the Clippers Read To Achieve Squad! The squad includes Clippers Mascot Chuck the Condor, Clippers Current and Alumni Players and Clippers staff.
CLIPPERS’ READ TO ACHIEVE ALL-STARS
The top student in the overall program (all participating schools combined), as well as the top student in each grade level overall (Kindergarten to 8th Grade – all participating schools combined) who log the most reading minutes will be drafted to the Clippers Student All-Star Reading Team. These students will have the opportunity to be featured on the Clippers Read to Achieve website and will receive a Clippers prize pack, which could include Clippers gear, books and school supplies.
ADDITIONAL STUDENT INCENTIVES
All elementary school students that read a minimum of 1,000 minutes during the program and all middle school students that read a minimum of 1,500 minutes during the program will receive a special Clippers prize. Students will earn badges when they hit reading milestones and will be eligible for additional prizes throughout the program.
